Through My Mother's Hands
11 x 9 ½ x 29
Through My Mother’s Hands was a call for art piece for Concerning Water.
Concerning Water was a regional juried exhibition on the theme of women and water issues, the exhibit was designed to provide visibility for the issues of water rights both global and local.
This piece is a depiction of a vessel that women would wear on their heads to get the precious water from its source to their home. I played with the meaning of mother several ways in this piece. The vessel is Mother Earth being held up by the mother’s hands. Through those hands flow the water of life.
